WHO WE ARE: A close-knit community, with a passion for teaching and learning, a strong emphasis on character, and a safe and nurturing environment. Here, we help students understand who they are as citizens and scholars, and we challenge them to become the best of who they can be.

LOCATION: 20-acre campus, originally a private estate designed by Olmsted Associates, in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Students come from Northern-Central Berkshire County, Massachusetts, as well as Southern Vermont, and Eastern New York.

FACULTY: 32, + 6 staff

ACADEMIC DIVISIONS: School includes 4 programs, each with three grades (1 classroom per grade): Early Childhood: Beginners, Pre-K, and Kindergarten; Lower School: grades 1, 2, and 3; Intermediate School: grades 4, 5, and 6; Upper School: grades 7, 8, and 9.

SCHOOL DAY: 8:10 AM – 3:10 pm. Half-days, flexible days available for Beginners, Pre-K. Vibrant extended day program until 6pm (included in tuition for Beginners and Pre-K, small fee for older grades).

ATHLETIC TEAMS: Interscholastic soccer, field hockey and lacrosse; Winter Sports Program includes alpine skiing, snowboarding, skating, and cross-country skiing starting in Kindergarten. Squash program with Williams College squash team.

ACCREDITATION: Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE); National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).

LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION: French begins at age 3, Latin in grade 4. Spanish and French conversation roundtable new in 2010 – 2011.

EXTRACURRICULAR: Math club, dance team, choir, athletic teams, yearbook, student council, outreach committee, Spanish conversation.

CO-CURRICULAR: French language, instrumental and vocal music, studio art, athletic instruction, Language Day, Science Day, Math Day, community service, math resource room, reading support, pottery studio.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS ATTENDED BY RECENT GRADUATES: Berkshire School, Burr and Burton Academy, Buxton School, Concord Academy, Deerfield Academy, Drury High School, Emma Willard School, Hoosac Valley High School, Hotchkiss School, Middlesex School, Miss Hall’s School, Mt. SPECIAL STRENGTHS: Character education, environmental exploration, extensive literary analysis, cross-curricular exploration, hands-on science/math, arts integrated in curricula, outstanding written and spoken communications, fostering lifelong confidence and love-of-learning, and community.

FINANCIAL AID: A large percentage of our students – at least 1/3 of the student body in any given year – receive financial aid. The school will work with any family on an individual basis to ensure that students who are an excellent fit can access a Pine Cobble education.
