- Pine Cobble School

Student Life

In the Lower School, the children participate in several field trips to locations such as apple orchards, museums, and other musical or theatrical presentations. Each week, the students attend the School’s Wednesday assembly when the subject matter relates to a topic they might enjoy. Each grade from Kindergarten upwards sponsors one assembly each year, and they often involve skits, songs, or other presentations. Also, the entire school gets together several times each year for al-school activities, such as Pumpkin Day, in which children of different ages are grouped in threes to carve a pumpkin together. Afterwards, everyone puts the pumpkins on display, poses for a group photograph, and eats delicious apple crisp. Similar gatherings occur at different times throughout the year.

Lower School students are often paired with Upper School grades for reading buddies, a year-long program. Also, children in first grade and upwards eat lunch at a family-style gathering in the Dining Room in Cluett House. Pre-ordered Subway sandwiches are available three days each week, and on the remaining two days pizza and bagels are available for purchase. Of course, students may bring their own lunch any day of the week.
