Physical Education
While our 6th – 9th graders are on interscholastic teams, our preschool – 5th grade students have physical education classes twice each week. During these classes, the focus is on building the base of the pyramid that includes coordination and the ability to move one's body while staying in control. It is important for students to be able to move laterally, forward, backward, and in a twisting motion. If students build a strong foundation by being active participants in class and staying active outside of school (climbing trees, riding bikes, playing tag), as they get older they are ready for the next level, a healthy participation in team and life sports. The foundation of coordination and fitness allows everyone the opportunity to be an athlete, someone who is able to pick up any sport and move and perform with relative ease. Like all of the learning that happens at Pine Cobble, students have fun while gaining skills and pushing themselves to improve.
