Lower School
Providing students a solid academic foundation is at the core of the Lower School program. Learning is made both meaningful and engaging through hand-on activities and a balance of individual and group work. By maintaining continuity through the grades, whether in math, reading, or spelling, a student is able to progress at the pace for which s/he is best suited. The small class sizes ensure all students are challenged and motivated to learn and grow.
In addition to the core subjects taught by the classroom teacher, Lower School students are taught French, Art, Music, Physical Education, Science, and Library by experts in these fields. Beginning in fourth grade, students start the study of Latin in addition to the other specials. Appropriate usage of technology in integrated into the curriculum.
The Lower School provides an excellent balance of structure and freedom, individualism and group work, academics and play that keeps students engaged and eager to come to school each and every day.
